Make sure your health professional is regulated, licensed and accountable.

While reports can be made anonymously, the College may require the person making the report to identify themselves in a court affidavit in order to take legal action against the unlicensed practitioner. The College’s options for action against the practitioner may be limited without evidence from someone who has received treatment from an unlicensed practitioner.
Only registrants of the College are permitted by law to use the title “doctor,” with some notable exceptions:
The BC Supreme Court has ruled people who are not registrants of the College but have medical training and other academic credentials cannot call themselves “doctor” in a way that implies they are registrants of the College and entitled to practise medicine.

Yes, under certain circumstances. It is the College Of Physicians And Surgeons Of British Columbia’s position (link: https://www.cpsbc.ca/files/pdf/PSG-Injection-Botox-Dermal-Fillers-Sclerotherapy.pdf) that a registered and licensed physician must first assess the patient and may direct a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse holding practising registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives ( link: https://www.bccnm.ca/Pages/Default.aspx) to perform the injection. The physician must be present in the facility at the time of the injection.
